Greetings FPW Families!
My name is Jason Sanders and I will be the new Assistant Principal at Florida Pitt Waller! I am originally from Seattle, WA (Go Hawks!) and attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA (Go Zags!). I moved to Denver in 2002 based on several recommendations from friends and have loved living here ever since. In my spare time, I love to be active: I still play basketball and golf (and maybe a little kickball when I get the chance!). I also love to travel and, of course, watch my favorite teams go to Final Fours and Super Bowls!
Throughout my 15 years working in Denver Public Schools, I have served as a counselor, special education teacher, principal intern, assistant principal and school principal. I have been blessed and fortunate enough to work at elementary schools (Hallett, Smith and Academia Sandoval), a middle school (Smiley) and a K-8 (Greenwood Academy).
One of the things that I love most about working in schools is getting to know the students and their families. I believe that parents and guardians are the primary teachers for their children. Whether 4 or 14, children look to their family to learn how to be successful. This allows us, as educators, to learn from you about how to best meet the academic needs of your children as they walk through our doors every day!
It will take some time for me to get to know all of the students and their families, but I cannot express my excitement as I look forward to our partnership together as we work toward pushing each child to meet his or her fullest potential so that they are prepared for high school, college and beyond!!!
