Community Input Meetings on District’s Search for New Superintendent

September 16, 2018

Dear Far Northeast Families,

This summer, Superintendent Tom Boasberg announced he would be stepping down as district superintendent after a decade in the position. This departure means that DPS is now engaged in the search for a new district leader.

The Board of Education is committed to finding the most qualified candidate who can continue the progress made toward our strategic plan, the Denver Plan 2020. To this end, DPS is gathering community input as we develop questions for applicants and screening criteria the board will use to narrow and select finalist(s).

Your voices are important and we encourage you to attend one of the upcoming public meetings. See the schedule below.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Evie Dennis Campus: 4800 Telluride St.
  • Saturday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Montbello Recreation Center: 15555 E. 53rd Ave.
  • Monday, Sept. 24, 5:30-7:30 p.m., West Campus: 951 Elati St.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Hiawatha Davis Recreation Center: 3334 Holly St.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m., South High School: 1700 E. Louisiana St.
  • Saturday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., North Campus: 2960 Speer Blvd.

For more information or to RSVP to an upcoming public meeting, visit https://supersearch.dpsk12.org/.

Please note, the format for the large community engagement meetings is “house style,” a type of small-group discussion that is used in an effort to lift up more of our community’s diverse voices, including those who are not as comfortable speaking in front of large audiences. “House style” discussions allow us to engage people in their native languages, which is especially important in a district where more than 36% of our 90,000+ families speak a language other than English.

We hope to see you at one of the upcoming meetings!

Sincerely,

Kayla Grayson-Yizar, Principal
